Hi,

Now that sctp support is more mature in JDK7, is it possible to revisit adding Windows support? There are two mature Windows implementations at:

http://www.sctp.de/sctp-download.html

and

http://old.nabble.com/%22SCTP-driver-for-Windows-XP-Vista%22%2C-a-new-version-available-ts21165772.html#a21165772

The former uses a LGPL license, the latter a BSD license. Please take a look and add Windows support if possible.

PS: If Windows support does not get in JDK 7 is it possible to include it in an update release or would it have to wait for JDK 8 instead?

Thank you,
Gili

Hi Gili,

If I understood Christopher in previous posts, I don't think it would be any
big issue helping him getting SCTP support available for the windows
platform too, but he needs help doing so if wanted. I am also very
interested in the possibility to have native SCTP support on windows
platform, and could perhaps help in building/testing such support too.

The main thing is to decide which implemetation to support, and stick with
it, so the need for supporting several different implementations is limited,
after that I wouldn't mind trying to get it working on windows.

With kind regards

// Dennis

Hi Dennis, Gili,

Having Windows SCTP support in OpenJDK would certainly be useful. I
believe I may have even committed to looking into this possibility before!

I agree with Dennis here, I think we need to evaluate the available
implementations, and make a decision about which to build on top of. I
cannot make any definite commitments, with respect to spending time
exclusively on this project, but I certainly can help with the
implementation ( I don't believe there should be a great deal of work
here ).

Have either of you, or anyone else on this mailing list, got experience
using SCTP on Windows?

-Chris.
